According to Forbes Magazine it is one of the most unusual restaurants in the world.

About Dinner In The Sky
Elevated up to 50 meters in the air by a giant crane, Dinner in the Sky combines fine dining and sightseeing experience.
To maintain the exclusivity of the dinner in the sky, only up to 22 diners are allowed per session, along with the staff that stands in the middle that serves food, entertains and takes great pictures.
Their obsession for safety made the experience truly exceptional. Their crew was very safety-conscious. All seated guests have to wear safety belts and the crews are secured by safety harness all the time during the flight. They gave us safety briefing before taking off and always communicate with the crane operators and ground floor crew for a smooth flight.
I chose Dinner in the Sky KL because I’ve read great reviews of their safety records worldwide. In fact, it was a well-established company and as a first-timer this was very assuring.
Bukit Bintang area are known for the heavy traffic jam. For this reason, I’d highly recommend to arrive 30 minutes early. Head over to the reception area to register and to sign waiver form. Once you are done with registration, you’ll be escorted to waiting lounge while waiting for your flight.
Complimentary lockers are allocated for each customer’s convenience. I’d suggest just bring your phone and a small camera of course for safety reason.
Keep in mind that there is no prayer room or surau in the lounge. If you want to perform Maghrib prayer, you can go to Metro Curry House or Pavillion which is walking distance.

This restaurant offers diners 1-hour experience where you’ll be spoilt with a three-course meal that’s halal and catered by Elements Kuala Lumpur with free flow of water and juices. The meals are served depending on the package that you choose from – Economy Class (RM369), Business Class (RM569) and First Class (RM939). You can book either 6.30pm or 8.00pm slot.
It may sound like a lot, but you’re essentially paying for the experience and not necessarily the food. Considering the chefs are battling some extremes here 50m up in the sky. Strong wind, cold blasts of air over the food and a lack of cooking utensils and heating elements, so it’s worth it.
I’ve booked Dinner in the Sky via Klook’s website. KLOOK offers 8% OFF Special Discounts for Dinner in the Sky Kuala Lumpur ticket if you purchase them online. Fortunately for me, I’ve booked just a day before and the tickets are still available.
Here’s what you can expect on a Dinner In The Sky Experience!
I board at 8pm. I met their ground floor staff when approaching to my seat. Soon after, he put me in a harness and strapped me to the seat. To be honest, I only started to get anxious and nervous after the staff strapped my seat belt. There was no turning back now. However, they were very friendly and tried to make us feel at ease by struck up a conversation.
As we went further and further up, with the Coldplay’s ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ song playing in the background, only then did the feeling of excitement hit me! At this point, everyone is busy taking photos, selfies and videos.
After a while, as we went higher, I felt more relaxed and started to enjoy the ride. At this point, I stopped taking photographs and just experienced the take-off and the view! After 5 minutes and without realizing it, we were already at the top. And the first course was served.
You will be served a three-course meal over an hour, including appetizer, main course and dessert. You need to choose one from 4 main course options during your reservation – Beef, Chicken, Fish or Vegetarian.
A plate of crisp arugula salad and romaine lettuce with feta cheese, sliced almonds, pink grapefruit, orange segments, green apple and sherry vinegar dressing arrived. You will not be disappointed with all of the fresh ingredients. Easily a great start to an exciting evening.
I opted for the Fish – Pan Roasted Deep Ocean Snapper with wilted locally sourced amaranth cress, Mediterranean nonpareille capers and sauce vera cruz. The snapper itself was very light and fresh and went great with the mashed potato. One bite into it and your mouth will literally start watering!
While my friend on the other hand went with the Beef – Black Current and Soy Braised Angus Beef Cheeks. They were served with mustard seed caviar, poached bok choy and purple potato puree. You can expect juicy and tender – just the way you like it!
And if you are feeling like getting a Chicken instead, you can choose Coca Cola Chicken. It is a caramel and spiced soy braised chicken, served with buttery potato puree, crispy chicken skin and glazed carrots.
Make sure you have enough room for their dessert. Sat on a bed of velvety strawberry coulis was Strawberries and Cream Nitro Poached Coconut Milk Expuma prepared with kaffir lime leaf oil drizzled on top. The good news is that you will get an exclusive birthday cake during your birthday month if you book with Klook!
While we were up in the sky, the buildings all around us were lit up and we were greeted with Bukit Bintang skyscrapers, Pavillion and KLCC’s night lights – definitely my favourite moment! It was a breathtaking 360-degree view. If you think the view from pictures are beautiful, you have to experience it with your own eyes to see the beauty in real life.
I love that the platform rotated so everyone will get equal opportunities for the best backgrounds. I was feeling full after my meal so I reclined the chair to be more comfortable, and got a great view of the stars at night. I can be certain that everyone enjoyed the time onboard and the staff did everything they could to make sure we had a great time up there.
Time flew by and just like that, our time in the air was up. It was supposed to be a 1-hour flight but it felt like a tad rushed with selfie-snapping and video-taking. It feels like I haven’t done anything at all. If you are wondering, the feeling when descending was easier than the take-off.
My feet steadily touched the ground and with a heavy heart, I had to say goodbye to the amazing experience. I knew I had to purchase the photo from them before bidding them goodbye. It cost RM46 for two printed pictures of us having dinner including the soft copy.
I could understand why the ticket was sold out within 48 hours during the launch as they are offering great experience, great service, great atmosphere and delicious food!
Even though the experience may cost a bomb, I had absolutely no regrets. Overall, I would highly recommend Dinner in the Sky Kuala Lumpur to anyone at least once in your life.
Further, it would be a great experience for special celebration with your loved ones! I couldn’t wait to try Dinner in the Sky in other cities 😀
Useful tips for Dinner In The Sky Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia:
If you’re trying dining in the sky for the first time in Kuala Lumpur, here are some useful tips to help you to prepare for your flight:
1.Check the weather in advance
You’d want to check the weather just a few days before your dining so you can adjust your date and slot selection. You won’t want to book a slot only to find out that it’s a rainy day!
2. Dress appropriately
Do not wear loose shoes to avoid any risk of falling and do wear comfortable clothing.
3. Overcome the fear of heights
I’m afraid of heights too! One great tips for you is don’t look down! Or you can try Plane In The City instead, located just right next door.
4. No restroom breaks
If you need to use the toilet, do so before take-off. Trust me, you don’t want to disrupt your experience by having a full bladder or stomach ache!
5. You can take your own photos and video
If you want to take your own photos and videos, you can bring your smartphone, compact camera or GoPro as long as your devices are properly secured. Otherwise, you can always purchase the photo from them at a fee.
